Proper bedding is essential for achieving consistent braking performance, preventing pad imprinting, and establishing an even transfer layer on the rotor. Rotor Care & Best Practices

How often should I bed in new pads and rotors?
Bed-in each time new pads or rotors are installed, or when switching to a different pad compound.
Why do my brakes vibrate or feel uneven?
This is often caused by uneven pad deposits or rotor runout. Re‑bedding or checking hub cleanliness usually resolves the issue.
What causes brake fade?
Brake fade occurs when pads or fluid overheat. Proper cooling, fresh fluid, and good pad selection help prevent it.
Is rotor discoloration normal?
Light blue or gold tones are normal from heat cycling. Deep hot spots, cracking, or uneven marks require inspection.
Can I wash my car after spirited driving?
Avoid spraying water on hot brakes. Rapid cooling can cause thermal cracking.
What’s the minimum safe pad thickness?
Replace pads around 5–6 mm. Thin pads overheat quickly and can damage the rotor surface.
How do I prevent pad imprinting?

Brake Fluid Maintenance
